Hosts switch between composition templates in real time. Templates define how host video feeds are arranged on screen — landscape vs. portrait, side-by-side vs. picture-in-picture, full-screen with background removal, circular crops, and more.

Off-the-Shelf and Custom Templates

HotMic ships a set of off-the-shelf templates that work for most use cases out of the box. Customers can also create and customize their own templates to match their brand and broadcast format, including:

• Custom host positioning and framing.
• Branded backgrounds and overlays baked into the template.
• Specific aspect ratios (landscape 16:9, portrait 9:16, vertical, square, and more).
• Multi-host arrangements for the number of hosts you typically run with.

Once configured at the organization level, custom templates are available to every creator alongside the off-the-shelf options.

Host Positioning Within a Template

Within any template, host positions can be rearranged by dragging — top-left, top-right, bottom-left, bottom-right, center, and background positions are all supported where the template allows.

Switching Templates Live

Hosts can switch templates at any point during a broadcast. The change applies immediately to the composed output and is visible to viewers in real time.
