Background Removal

Hosts can replace their on-camera background in real time without needing a physical green screen. Background removal runs inside the Creator Studio and works for both single-host broadcasts and multi-host layouts.

How It Works

The Creator Studio uses AI-powered segmentation to detect each host's silhouette and separate them from whatever is actually behind them. The original background is replaced by the image of your choice, while the host stays sharp and naturally lit.

Choosing a Background

Hosts have three ways to set their background:

  • Library Backgrounds — Pick from a curated library of branded and stock backgrounds provided by your organization. Useful when you want every broadcast to stay on-brand.
  • Custom Upload — Upload any image (PNG or JPG) and apply it instantly. Good for matchday backdrops, sponsor-specific visuals, or topical event imagery.
  • Blur — Keep the original setting but soften it for a clean, distraction-free look without needing a custom image.

Backgrounds can be swapped during a live broadcast — the change applies immediately and is visible to viewers in real time.

Managing the Background Library

Admins can curate the library available to hosts:

  • Upload approved background images at the organization level.
  • Group backgrounds by category (e.g. Match Day, Studio, Sponsor) for faster selection.
  • Set a default background that's applied to every new stream.

Best Practices

  • Use evenly lit, front-facing camera setups for the cleanest segmentation results.
  • Avoid loose hair against bright backgrounds, which can flicker around the edges.
  • Pre-load high-resolution images (1920×1080 or larger) so backgrounds look crisp in HD streams.
