Platform
AI Clipping
AI Clipping is a core component of the HotMic content pipeline. It automatically generates short-form clips from the long-form content creators produce — primarily live streams and recordings — providing programmers and producers with a consistent supply of publish-ready material to review, approve, and distribute through your CMS and downstream channels.
Purpose
AI Clipping is designed to operate as part of the production workflow, not as a standalone tool:
- Creators produce live streams and recordings on their regular cadence.
- AI Clipping automatically identifies and extracts the most compelling moments as short-form clips.
- Programmers and producers review the resulting clips, apply approval and moderation policies, and route them to your CMS or other destinations.
The result is that every long-form asset becomes a continually replenished library of short-form content, without requiring creators or producers to manually identify and cut clips.
Partner-Agnostic by Design
HotMic supports AI Clipping through partnerships with leading providers, including Opus, and is engineered to integrate with any AI clipping model a customer prefers.
- Built-in provider support. HotMic ships with native integrations to established partners such as Opus, enabling AI Clipping to operate from day one.
- Custom provider support. Customers may connect their own AI clipping vendors, proprietary models, or specialized providers. The integration layer is provider-agnostic by design.
- Per-content routing. Different content types — live streams, recordings, and uploads — can be routed to different providers, supporting strategies that combine multiple models.
This architecture ensures customers are not constrained to a single provider and can adopt new providers or layer existing ones as the AI clipping landscape evolves.
Workflow Integration
- A creator completes a live stream or recording.
- The content is submitted to the configured AI clipping provider.
- Suggested clips are returned to HotMic and surfaced in the Clip Manager.
- Producers and programmers review each suggestion, attach notes, and approve, reject, or return for revisions.
- Approved clips are routed to the customer's CMS or downstream destinations via Webhooks and APIs.
For additional detail, see Clip Manager for the review and approval workspace, and Workflows for how AI Clipping integrates with the broader content pipeline.
Capabilities for Programmers and Producers
- Review every suggested clip in context, alongside other in-flight content.
- Approve, reject, or moderate clips against the customer's editorial standards.
- Adjust trims and metadata prior to publishing where supported by the provider.
- Route approved clips to the CMS, social distribution, or any downstream system via webhook.
Strategic Value
Manual clipping is typically the most time-intensive step in a content operation. Automating clip generation — and integrating the output directly into a review and approval workflow — allows production teams to focus on editorial judgment rather than on scrubbing through long-form video. Combined with creators' regular live streaming and recording cadence, AI Clipping enables each broadcast to function as a multiplier for downstream content production.
