Banners

HotMic Banners are display advertisements shown to viewers inside your app during a broadcast. They provide a non-intrusive way to surface advertiser messaging or promotional content alongside the live experience.

Banner delivery is supported through two methods, which can be used independently or together.

Google AdMob Integration

HotMic integrates with Google AdMob for serving banner assets to viewers. AdMob is the recommended approach for customers monetizing through programmatic advertising or who already manage banner inventory through Google's ad network.

  • Programmatic delivery — AdMob serves banner creatives directly to viewers based on the customer's AdMob configuration, targeting rules, and reporting setup.
  • Asset management in AdMob — Creatives, campaigns, and targeting are managed inside the AdMob dashboard rather than in HotMic.
  • SDK integration — Customers pass their GADApplicationIdentifier to the HotMic SDK, which handles ad placement and display within the viewing experience.
  • Reporting — Impressions, clicks, and revenue are reported through the standard AdMob dashboard.

This option is best when banner inventory is managed alongside other ad placements in a customer's broader AdMob account.

Creator-Pushed Banners

Creators can also push banners manually during a broadcast directly from the Creator Studio. This is useful for sponsor-specific banners tied to a live event, time-sensitive promotional messages, or campaigns coordinated between the production team and a sponsoring brand.

  • Image — 3:8 ratio (1242 x 466 pixels recommended).
  • Destination URL — The URL viewers are taken to when they tap the banner.

Using Banners During a Broadcast

  1. Open the Banners section in the Creator Studio.
  2. Create a new banner with the image and destination URL.
  3. Click Send to push the banner to viewers.
  4. The banner appears in the viewer's app. Tapping it opens the destination URL without interrupting the stream audio.

Banners can be sent, replaced, or cleared at any point during a broadcast.

Use Cases

  • Promote a sponsoring brand or advertiser during a live broadcast.
  • Drive traffic to a landing page, product detail page, or signup form.
  • Highlight time-sensitive offers tied to the live event.
