A/V Permissions

Grant your browser camera and microphone access. HotMic needs these for Easy Mode streaming and recording.

If your camera or microphone is not appearing in the Creator Studio, your browser may not have permission to access them. HotMic requires camera and microphone access for Easy Mode streaming and recording.

  1. Click the lock icon (or site settings icon) in the address bar next to the site URL.
  2. Set Camera to Allow.
  3. Set Microphone to Allow.
  4. Reload the page.

Alternatively, you can manage permissions from Chrome settings:

  1. Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of Chrome.
  2. Go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Site Settings.
  3. Under Permissions, click Camera and ensure the Creator Studio site is set to Allow.
  4. Repeat for Microphone.

Device Selection

Once permissions are granted, you can choose which camera and microphone to use:

  1. In the Creator Studio, open the stream setup menu (click the Settings icon below the video).
  2. Select your preferred camera from the dropdown.
  3. Select your preferred microphone from the dropdown.
  4. A preview of your camera feed appears in the video area.

If you connect a new device (e.g., an external webcam or USB microphone), it should appear in the dropdown after a moment. If it does not, try reloading the page.

Troubleshooting

| Issue | Solution | |-------|----------| | Camera/mic not listed | Check that the device is connected and not in use by another application. Reload the page. | | "Permission denied" error | Follow the steps above to allow camera and microphone access in your browser settings. | | Audio not working | Make sure the correct microphone is selected and the system volume is not muted. | | Video is black | Ensure the correct camera is selected and no other application is using it. |

Supported Browsers

We recommend Google Chrome for the best experience. Other Chromium-based browsers (Edge, Brave) also work. Safari and Firefox have limited support for some streaming features.
